The Lesser Purple Emperor, or Apatura ilia, is a species of butterflies native to most of Europe and Asia. It is named for its similarity to the Purple Emperor butterfly.
Like Purple Emperors, this species is attracted to sweat, carrion, dung and anything sufficiently putrid. Unlike Purple Emperors, which are generally seen singly (away from the master tree), lesser purple emperors frequently gather in some numbers to feed. |

Hello Lucian,
a very well describing and lively capture of A. ilia in its wide spread variation clythie. Classical pose, well approached, with perfect focus, giving a good impression of the deep iridescence. Quite an early observation for the time of the year. This year's spring is on the way very rapidly in Europe.
With thanks, and best regards,
Peter

Salut Lucian
Un macro foarte reusit si un unghi excelent pentru a vedea acest fenomen interesant. Intr-adevar seamana cu A. iris prins de mine :))
Detaliile sunt super clare si culorile superbe.
Bravo si TFS
Horia
