| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This wingless beetle reaches a size of 14-19 mm which makes it one of the biggest weevils in Europe. Its wingcovers are black with yellow blotches that may be partly eroded in some individuals. It is found on the stony slopes of medium-high to high mountains from the Pyrenees to the Alps and into the Carpathians, and in the north up to the middle of Germany. The beetles live on the leaves of bear's breech, coltsfoot and butterbur. The females lay their eggs in the root-stock of butterbur. The larvae eat holes in the root-stock and burrow into the ground before pupation.

Dear Lucian!
I do not know why I overlooked this beautiful curculionid beetle before! Fantastic macro with great details and sharpness! I am especially impressed because these beetles are so convex and so shiny that it is really difficult to take a good quality photo - like this one :)
Bravo and TFS!
Best withes,
Radomir
