[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On a horse riding trek in Romania we stayed at a house were this man had collected some skulls on of them was this bear skull (he had two the other was found in the woods and was from a young bear)
This fellow apparently was raiding a barn with the home owners animals in it. As their stock are vital to them (and I do mean vital unlike the mordern western farming) the man shot the bear. It is unfortunate and prehaps in the future some sort of compensation for lost stock could be arranged.
However it came to my attention this past year that in Germany a bear appeared in that country, a first for a long time. Unfortunately they shot it! So if EU countries won't tolerate wild bears (which is unforgivable) how can we expect small subsistance farmers in Romania not to protect their meager livestock. Norway is just as guilty with the wolves.
Anyway I took the photo because its the nearest I have got to seeing a european bear.

Hi Simon
A good quality picture of this skull. What is more interesting is the note. I fully aggree with you. The fact is that the bear populations in Romania is quite strong, even overpopulated in some places acording to some sources. Not the same thing can be said about Central European populations, though.
