[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Marbled White(Melanargia galathea) is a distinctive and attractive black and white butterfly, unlikely to be mistaken for any other species. In July it flies in areas of unimproved grassland and can occur in large numbers on southern downland. It shows a marked preference for purple flowers such as Wild Marjoram, Field Scabious, thistles, and knapweeds. Adults may be found roosting halfway down tall grass stems.
European/world range
Most of Europe (except Scandinavia) and North Africa and eastwards to Iran. It is stable in most European countries.

I must have spent hours chasing these little critters around whilst I was recently on a wildlife holiday in Crete, suffice to say I never got an image anywhere near the quality of this....Stood out head and shoulder about the other images on the thumbnail section, which is why I felt compelled to make a comment.

Frumos fluturas, d.p.d.v. tehnic e foarte aproape de nota 10. Frumoasa galerie ai pe celalalt site, poze una si una. Bravo pentru tot ceea ce faci.
Daca ajungi prin partea asta de tara (Suceava)da un telefon sa fiu prin zona. Sejur placut in Romania si bafta la fotografiat.
