The male Scarce Copper is a strikingly beautiful butterfly with his vivid, solid orange upperside which is very conspicuous in flight and helps to locate him as he's whizzing around! Like other coppers though it stays put a while for a picture. You could confuse the male with Large Copper in theory but you would never find the two species in the same altitudinal range. The undersides are very characteristic with the white splodges in the post-discal line. The female upperside is much duller and very spotty. Despite its name, this butterfly seems quite common in upland areas over about 1000m.

The gold color on the wings is absolutely stunning.
Perfect focus and exposure on this beauty of a butterfly.
The pose makes for a lovely composition,
and I love the colors in the OOF BG.

Hi Mircea. An excelent shot of the Scarce Copper. you have captured it with fine detail and sharp focusing. good natural colours. and a nice POV/DOF. Is that a white spider in the picture ? well done TFs good notes too.

techniquement cette image est parfaite,le papillon est tres joli avec sa couleur orange,il est net.
