This is a relatively small and delicate-looking species.
However,as fritillaries go,it is rather distinctive,particulary in the shape of the hindwing:the leading edge is almost square-cut where it reaches the margin.The undersuface is marbled with violet.The orange upperwings adorned with black spots,are similar to those of many close relatives. |
