Name: Trametes versicolor
Family: Polyporaceae

This was a quite difficult specie to identify. The latin name points it out why. It can have different colours, from almost black thru all shades of brown, beige, orange, dark red, yellows and even ... green.
Grows in bunches on deadwood but has no problem in developing on alive ones too.
It has a hardy consistence so no way to be edible. However it is a useful one, modern medicine and pharmaceutics are extracting several components from it, for various medications.

Hi,
great note with nice view, details, colours, composition ....
Well done!
Ana:)

I agree with you. At first I am always convinced of Trametes when I find them, but when you look carefully, doubths apear due to the polimorphism.
I appreciate the extra scanning work, nice composition and colours. Flash a bit harsh for my personal taste.
Best regards, Felipe.

Hi Petru,
those colors are amazing, reminds me more of corals and and shell than of fungi. A beautiful subject, nicely presented.
