Very fine composition showing this Colias species. I like the beautiful contrast between the green background and the yellow flower and butterfly. How do you make the difference between C. hyale and C. croceus?

Hi Mariana,

This lovely Pale Clouded Yellow found the perfect flower to pose on. The colors match beautifully and jump out from the dark green background. A wonderful position showing off the pretty wings and markings and the big eye. A beautiful picture and composition.

Hi Mariana,
discovering this picture belatedly (sorry!) I find it a very fine portrait of the Clouded Yellow. It is sitting on wild flower for one thing, and the flower does not contradict the butterfly with its often showy colors. And the light is absolutely superb, from the side, almost against the lens. Photographed like this, its a great pleasure to regard the picture. Good note, too. So well done, Mariana!
