Harmonia axyridis is a large coccinellid beetle originally native to eastern Asia, but which has been introduced to North America and Europe to control aphids and scale insects. It is now common, well known and spreading in those regions.

It is commonly known as Asian lady beetle in North America, and Harlequin ladybird in the United Kingdom (the latter name because it occurs in numerous color forms). It is also known as the Multicolored Asian lady beetle, and Halloween lady beetle (because it invades homes in October in preparation for hibernation).[1][2]

When the species first arrived in the UK, it received the label of "the many-named ladybird". Among the names listed were: Multivariate, Southern, Japanese, and Pumpkin ladybird[3].

ma alatur si eu celor din fata mea si imi dau acordul ca este o compozitie foarte frumoasa si reusita. Vezi ca nici aici nu scap de coada ? Pina si aici si in vremurile astea trebuie sa astept cuminte si rabdator la coada ca-mi vina rindul. Dar nu-i bai, pentru tine merita.

what a nice capture of beautiful ladybug on daisy. sharp details, POV/DOF and colors great. exposure also nice. maybe tiny white line better than red for frame.

Wonderful macro capture of this cute looking ladybug with wonderful colors! I like the great contrast between the colors of the bug and golden yellow central part of the flower. The sharpness is great and the POV is superb.

Very poetical and fine shot, like for a greeting card. A very sunny picture! Unfortunately this new Asian species is everywhere around,and we see less and less our European species. In our house we have hundreds of these Asian bugs installing for wintertime..
