Vipera ammodytes is known as "horned viper" (rom: "vipera cu corn") and is one of the three species of the venomous snakes in Romania (beside V. berus and V ursinii).
I taked this picture on the Natural Park Cazanele Mari, wich are located where the Danube crossing the Almaj Mountains.
It seems truculently? In fact she is peaceable and affored me a large opportunity to shot.

N-am intalnit-o inca "live" desi am cam colindat zona Cazanelor si a Retezatului.
Linistita? da, dar si periculoasa. O miscare brusca interpretata gresit si apar problemele.

Salut Lucian. Excelenta fotografie. Felicitari. Ai reusit sa prinzi postura viperei cand nu e lasata in pace. Un macro foarte bun. Probabil si sasaia amenintator. Saptamana trecuta am intalnit una in padurea Babadag, dar a fugit intr+un tufis de porumbar si nu am avut cum sa o scot la lumina.
Daca ai idee unde gasesc scule de manipulat serpisori te rog sa+mi spui. Succes mai departe

Je n'aimerai pas me retrouver si près de ce reptile ! Document tout simplement superbe ! Bravo.

Nah, ca tocmai zisei "la ma mare" si mi-a luat o secunda sa o descopar umbland prin arhiva ta... I look at natural history shots also for their artistic value and I see lots of potential in this one. Once again this at least a 70 points photo! The fully arched, no bluff, the "Im gonna bite the s***t out of you if you wont back off" attitude rocks, bro' !!!

Frumoasa poza, frumoasa vipera.
Eu n-am reusit sa gasesc niciuna cand am fost la Cazane... :(
