I just love these birds. Well, I love all but this ones are one of my favorites. Yesterday I was in really bad mood and I decided to take a break and run in the park of the town, at two minutes from my office. And I watched birds from more then an hour! I saw some Motacilla alba. and some Fringilla coelebs which are common there and I was on way back to work when I saw these jewels on ground. They were two, feeding with seeds. They were eating with such an appetite that I stayed there and watch and watch and laughing on my own, until a stupid came with the bike and made them fly. It was a very relaxing and funny show and really helped me a lot! I don't see bullfinches (Pyrhulla pyrhulla) every day, so I was happy.

It's not a very good pic because I was really emotionalized and also afraid not to scary them and let them eat.

Some notes now:
"During the nesting season the bullfinch is a woodland bird; the only sign of its presence a soft piping or a fleeting vision of a white rump. In late autumn it is more of a wanderer, feeding largely on the seeds of herbaceous plants. But these decrease in importance with the onset of winter and are replaced by tree seeds, especially ash. The next diet change is in spring when fruit buds become the staple diet. These attacks can become a serious problem. A single bullfinch can remove 30 or more buds in a minute."

Salut Elena,
Super pasari intr-adevar.

Hello Elena,
Fine capture of this colourful male Bullfinch. They are very secretive where I live and difficult to photograph, so I would be pleased if I took a sharp and well composed shot such as this, even though it is nicer to portray them sitting on a branch.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Hello Elena

You are absolutely right - they are really charming birds - and very beautiful too. IMO you did a very nice job on this one. Great and natural colours and nice sharpness all over the bird with nice details. The composition could be better but that is a very personal matter. All over it is a very pleasant picture and it shows the natural behaviour of these birds picking up seed from the ground.

Well done
Mogens

Hi Elena. Great shot of the Bullfinch. Good colour and detail ,some how they do look better in a tree, but still a great picture.well done..
Nick

What beautiful colors in this photo, very nice detail, good catchlight in the eye. Perhaps the bird is a little too central in the composition, but a lovely photo, nevertheless.. TFS

ceau, si mersi,
nu mi-e rusine nici cu poza ta...
