[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In my trip in Valcea County I visited Surupatele Monastery, a beautiful building in a mountainous area.
Is a peacuful place during the weeck but there are a lotta of turists on Saturday and Sunday. Here I saw a couple of nuthatchs, hard working to carry food for chicks. After a very warm winter, the death rate on insects population was very low, so there are an abundance of insects, larvas and worms, as you can see on this photo. That is a bad thing for vegetation but good thing for insectivors like Sitta europea.

The nuthatch is a commune bird in Europe, living in forests, parcs and gardens. The nest is usualy a hollow
some time improved with mud to reduce the size of the entrance.It has a distinct profile, with long and sharpened bill, short tail and bent back. It brings down on trees trunk with down head. The back is gray, black stripe over the eyes and the abdomen can be white to Sitta e. europaea (Fenoscandia), light brown-red to Sitta e. caesia (V Europe).

I used Nikon D70+Sigma 170-500mm on A mode,Iso 400, without tripod.

hi Dan,
un des oiseaux les plus difficile à prendre en photo, il bouge tout le temps. Ici la composition est très bonne, la position de l'oiseau et les larves dans son becs un plus. Juste une légère OE sur le blanc de la tête, mais je pense que c'était le seul moment ou il y avait assez de lumière pour shooter.

Buna Dane.Felicitari pentru fotografie.Cred ca este tare greu sa surprinzi o pasare cu viermisorul in cioc.Probabil ca are pui.Minunat.Este foarte clara iar pasarea este foarte delicata.

Hello Dan,
Lovely capture of the Nuthatch on the way to the nest hole bringing food for its young. Nice light catching its eye and I like its pose.
