[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Măcin Mountains are a mountain range in Tulcea County, Dobrogea, Romania. Part of Northern Dobruja Massif, they are located between Danube to the north and west, Taiţa river and Culmea Niculiţelului to the east and Casimcea Plateau to the south. Seen from the Danube they seem a mountainous region, however they are only low hills.

The Măcin Mountains are one of the oldest in Romania, being formed in the second part of the Paleozoic, in the Carboniferous and Permian, during the Hercynian orogeny. The predominant rock is granite. Erosion (caused especially by the difference of temperature) created steep slopes, with the aspect of ruins.

They are divided in Culmea Măcinului (the northern part) and Culmea Pricopanului (the southern part). The highest peak is Ţuţuiatu (also called Greci) which has a height of 467 meters. Other important peaks are Priopcea Hill (410 m) and Muntele lui Iacob ("Mountain" of Iacob - 341 m).

Hello Iulian!
I have to say that this picture makes me very sentimental :) Two years ago I was in Macin Mts during some expedition to Romania. It was really great time, and we (cedryk was also there) spent very nice moments in this region. And really in other regions of Romania too. Very fruitful expedition :>
As for me it is really amazing that so close to Black Sea there is such mountain area, and moreover it belongs to Carpathians :)
Ficture is really great, fully showing the "climat" of this region, very peacefull and beautiful :)
