[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I posted a few words about the dramas of life on TN, in the message "The Thief". I didn’t know that a few days later I will be the witness of one of the everyday unknown and unseen dramas

I was driving towards one of the hills with wild peonies – plants which are declared monuments of nature - that colour the landscape of Dobrudja (Romania) in May. All of a sudden, on the left of the road a kestrel takes flight with a European ground squirrel cub in its claws: it flights a few meters away and then, in a hurry, or scared by the presence of my car, it drops off its prey on the side of the road. The cub was not dead – it was trying to get on its feet in vain; and it was lying in the road, affected by the attack.
And the kestrel, not willing to abandon its prey, was sitting on a pole by the side of the road

It was the moment when I could have interfered in favour of the cub, especially because the mother of the cub was restless on the side of the road.
A second attack took place and the cub rolled on its back. Taken by surprise, the kestrel did not attack it and continued to fly over the fields. The cub staggered and then crept into the grass on the side of the road. I hope it saved its neck.

I used Canon 30D + Canon EF 400 f5.6L USM, shutter priority, ISO 320, from my car.

Hi this is an amazing piece of nature photography , a wonderful view of this predator in the first photo , and in the second a tremendous feeling for the reality of the life and death struggle that is the life of these creatures. kudos on your fortune on being witness to this , and my hats off for the skill required to meet the challenge of photographing it as well. great job

The squirrel gets to live another day! Sometimes you just get to be in the right place, at the right time. This is definitely one of those occasions. I am sure it was a thrill to photograph. You've done a great job capturing this moment. In full sunlight, this wasn't all that easy but you still pulled it off very nicely. Excellent job.

Exceptionala fotografie! Ai avut o reactie extrem de prompta fata de ceea ce se intampla. Apreciez faptul ca pe langa prezenta de spirit necesara unei asemenea fotografii ai reusit sa o faci in foarte bune conditii tehnice.
