[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Agelastica alni - is a 6-7mm, black leaf beetle with a blueish reflection. They occur on the leaves of the alder tree from April to May and eat their way through the leaves. The females lay up to 900 orange eggs, which are deposited at the lower side of the leaves. The beetle also occurs on poplar, hazle and willow trees. The beetles hibernate under leaves on the ground.
