I don't recall having seen this insect before. He is really interesting looking - looks like a shade over his eyes. Beautiful colors, shadings and details. Love the pose on the bush and the composition.

Interesante trabajo Razvan de un escarabajo poco visto en TN.
Yo creo que se trata de Anoxia australis, pero mejor que compruebes también por otros medios.
El ángulo muy cerrado, casi demasiado a mi gusto.

Hi Razvan,
a nice and dynamic portrait of this beetle with the big eyes. I feel that the picture is somewhat overexposed, but this would be easily corrected in PS. Good job, Razvan.

My search on the internet revealed that the grubs (larvae) live in sandy soils and feed on roots of various plants. By wounding tree roots they may help rot to enter the tree and damage it. The adults feed on leaves. I don't know whether Anoxia has flight years like Melolontha.
