[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A photo of a toad but which species I know not.(I know now, its a common european toad just like at home in the UK, oh yes I had to change the Mr to Mrs)
I was cutting the hay when this big lady leaped out or rather lopped out unlike the frogs which leaped out in enormous bounds.
Its just a nice picture and I would welcome any information as to his identity as he is wanted for the murder of a multitude of poor grasshoppers apparently.

Hi Simon

This is a splendid photo of the Common European Toad - Bufo bufo. It is actually widely distributed throughout Romania and the very heavy, shot leaps are characteristic to it :) Judging after the size of this one, i would say its a female.
I really like the low-angled POV here - gives a great impression of the toad's perspective.
Also the DOF is excellent, the light is charming and the bright eye shown very nicely is the cherry on top of the cake.
Lovely colors and tones and very clear and sharp details complete this very beautiful composition.
