A silver smile on Moldova River
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Moldova River is a river of the Moldavia region of Romania, which rises from the Obcine of Bukovina in Suceava County.
It joins the Siret River near the city of Roman in the Neamţ County.
The river gave its name to the principality of Moldavia, its first capital, Tārgul Moldovei, now Baia, being on the Moldova River.
This is what Wikipedia says. But I remember when I was little I've heard a legend about the name. It is said that the prince who put the step on the Moldavian land and established also the first court here, was Dragos. One day while he was hunting in this region together with his men and his beloved dog Molda, he saw a very impressive buffalo and he wanted to have as trophy. And while he was chasing it, the buffalo crossed a big river and disappeared in the deep and black forest. The river was after long rains, muddy and with tumultuous waters and the dog couldn't reach the bank and was taken by the waters and killed. The lost was so painful for the prince that he decided to name the river after his faithful dog.
Sooooooooo.... I made the pic when I was thinking that is already spring and the ices were melting...but now, there are -20C outside, and I don't even dream at spring! |
