The complex of "Stari Begej-Carska Bara" according to the Ramsar convention represents a special natural reservation with a high level of protection. It is situated in middle Banat, southwest from Zrenjanin, between the river Tisa and the river Begej. With an area of 1600 ha this special natural reservation is a region of world importance. The protective zone is a specific region with mosaic like distributed ecosystems of lakes, swamps, meadows, forests and confined ecosystems that are intersected by many channels, embankments and roads with two rural settlements. Anyway, this area is known in the world as an ornithology station. Birds give the main characteristic to this reservation. Enormous numbers of bird species, the diversity of birds that build nests and a number of endemic species single out this region as unique one not only in this part of Europe, but also in the whole world.

The landscape with a great number of small free water areas and oases of willow and white poplar forests also create a magnificent feeling. Generally, this is the area of an authentic or inconsiderably changed nature that can be characterized by the spontaneous development of its plants and animals. The natural resources of fish species are unrepeatable. Carp, pike, perch, sturgeon and many other fish species live in a relative small water area. Sports' fishing is possible inside some borders of this complex. The water areas for sports fishing are in property of Ribolovacko gazdinstvo Ecka.
Above all that, this is an area of a rare, unrepeatable and unique nature with priceless ecologic values. It also is of biological, scientific, educational, pedagogical and tourist significance. Due to this it is for sure a place worth visiting.
