It's a Nymphalis polychloros (Linnaeus, 1758)! Very good picture!
Also known as Large Tortoiseshell in english.
A very beautiful butterfly indeed!
We have them in Portugal too. Here we call it "Grande tartaruga" by the translation of the english name.
It's from the Nymphalidae Nymphalinae familly.
The foodplants of their larvas are: Ulmus, Salix, Prunus, Malus, Pyrus, Sorbus, Crataegus and Populus.
