Ants are social insects that belong to the same order as the wasps and bees. They are of particular interest because of their highly organized colonies or nests which sometimes consist of millions of individuals. Individuals are divided into workers, soldiers, drones and queens and colonies can occupy and use a wide area of land to support them. Ant colonies are sometimes described as superorganisms because the colony appears to operate as a single entity.

Ants have colonized almost every landmass on Earth. They can constitute up to 15-25% of the total animal biomass.Up to a third (33%) of the terrestrial animal biomass has been estimated to be made up of ants and termites.
There are about 11,880 known ant species, most of which are tropical.

Hi Tanja.
Perfectly composed picture you have presented to us. This is one of the most artistic work by you. Amazing in its beauty flower and tremendous reflection of its colour tones and texture. Small insects are reproduced perfectly too: their images are sharp and well detailed. BG highlights the main subject beautifully as well as the wonderful frames. BRAVO, Tanja, BRAVO.

Hello Tanja,
Tell me about ants! I had so many in my house last summer that I was obliged to make them exterminate and seriously, it was hearth breaking for me. Since I became a member here, I care more and more about any living creatures, even ants that are a very specialized community.

This is a nice picture with good lightning, POV and composition. Maybe that detail on the ants could be a little sharper (for my personal taste) but it is a very nice picture and this white flower creates a very soft and good mood. Well done! Thanks,
