The Brown Hawker (Aeshna grandis) is one of the larger species of hawker dragonfly (73 mm). The flight period is from June to the end of October. This species is highly territorial and will defend its stretch of water against all comers.

You've done wonders with the way you've handled the light in this capture: the dark BG works very well to set off the colours of your subject
