Acronicta rumicis, Knot grass moth
Noctuidae

An early summer species found in a variety of habitats from woodland to suburban gardens. Adults appear commonly at light and will also visit flowers. It rests by day on the trunks of trees and fence posts. The larvae feed from July to September on willow Salix spp., Hawthorn Crataegus monogyna, Bramble Rubus fruticosus, plantain Plantago spp. and probably other trees and shrubs. It overwinters as a pupa.

Hello Tanja,
I think this caterpillar has not been shown at TN thus far. Due to pretty good focus, the colour pattern and the fine bristles are nicely seen.

Hi Tanja,
Quite an amazing little thing.I like how the hair sprouts out from rings along its body.Good detail and clarity and a good DOF despite the very shallow F stop.The colours are nice in the warm light.Have a good weekend.
