Gentiana punctata
This plant is in my country protected by law.
It is the only kind of yellow gentian, which appears in Slovakia.
It grows at the rocky terrain of mountains in the altitude from 1300 to 2480 m above the sea level.
The photo of this one was taken in High Tatras in the height of 1950 m above the sea level.
The plant can reach a height of 20- 60 cm,size of yellow flower is 2.5 cm.It is very interesting for its purple dots in the inner side of the bucks.
During the bad weather the flower shuts completely, and so the inner of it can remain dry.
Roots of this plant can reach the lenght of 1 m and have curative effect on indigestion.
(the detail of this flower will follow soon) |

Is this basically a medicinal herb and hence registered legally in your country, Viera?
Coming to the picture, you have created a lovely effect here by manipulating your camera settings well. Whereas the plant is in absolutely sharp focus, the foreground and the background blurred ever so slightly still give the impression of a wonderful depth of view.

Ram

Hi Viera,
I like the way you show us this Gentiana. Wonderful light and composition. Mountains are asking you to climb them!

Hi Viera,
This is a very good composition formed with the plant and the beautiful mountain behind. It gives us sense of the altitude at wich they grow.
Perhaps it have been useful make a closer approach to the plant.
Very interesting your note about this plant.
I would like to see the flower wide open...I'll look forward to catch the following post pretty soon.
Well done, thanks for share and best regards,
JM
