Hi Horia,

A great compo with a good POV and the sepia colors works well inn this compo,a pity that the elictricity poles are visible in the BG,but that is a minor,

Shocking and a very real capture. Your choice of colour simply adds to the desolation!
This one really should have lots more points because your POV needs to be seen and heard

working in nature conservation....I sadly see these things nearly every day. Ecological desert after 'finishing the job'. I hope that (local) governments will see (or be forced to see) the ecological consequenses of this type of forrest use.
Anyway, your picture is quite illustrative and well composed. I might have chosen pure black and white (and add a little noise-> coarse grain for the sad look) in stead of using sepia. For the sepia effect I might have pushed it further, but that's just personal.

I like this vertical composition very much.I think sepia is very good to this picture.Very well you are captured dread and sorrow at view of such "forest".After hurricane be in our woods see much such sad place.

The mindless mass destruction of forests has been the bane of the so-called modern world, Horia.
You have captured the desolate and sad mood of a desiccated forest very well here. Sepia tone emphasizes that mood.

Useful shot and useful note. The person can do this too.
Very well done shot. Sepia mode is very suitable in this case. I like the perfect done composition and strong vertical cropping as well as the sharpness of the image and light tone range. My compliments and TFS.

It is always amazing what 'man' is prepared to do to an area and this shows it very starkly. Luckily they have left some of the younger trees so the soil will not be lost as well, so there is at least a chance for regeneration... but it will take many years...

The colour really gives it that 'what are they doing to out beautiful planet' feel.

The conversion to Sepia was a nice choice here. It seems to fit the scene perfectly. Pretty sad that they would clear cut an entire area.
Hopefully they will come in and replant it. Looks good in the vertical format.

The clearcut game eh! Wonderful depiction of the devastation!
Your selection of the colour is appropriate. The good news is that
this clearcut will be an opportunity for growth which under a tight canopy is next to impossible. Other than that it sucks. I share your sadness.

Very powerful composition and sad subject... To some extent it reminds me of my last shot from Albania... Again it makes us thinking about what we are doing to nature.

I start my critiquing backlog with you my friend!
This image really caught my eye, it is very effective in sepia though I didn't really take this in as it suits the scene so well. There is a strange atmosphere and a stark coldness which embodies the lone tree.

When I noticed the pylons in the background I initially thought, 'oops, he should of moved his viewpoint to get rid of those!' BUT, even looking at the workshop which is good in it's own right, it lacks the whole reason why this photograph is so powerful: The human influence and the devastation it has left behind is crucial to explaining why this scene appears as it does, hence the pylons are a fantastic contrast. The composition is excellent, placing the tree right on the thirds line sets everything else off well.

Thank you for posting this Horia, superbly documented and presented.

Clever use of Sepia.
I aggree on WS from pvs. The mast is distracting. One might think it helps to make the message stronger "man makes the nature ugly". Actually cutting wood is a message strong enough on its own; and this message is stronger if no other elements interfere.
I love this one long survivor in the foreground.

I agree this type of Clear Cutting is horrifying. Managing a forest takes brains and I looks like who ever decided to log this area did a poor job. Hopefully they will they will re-plant the area.

You've captured the devastation well and the Sepia mode just creates a ominous mood. Well done.
