[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The ocelot (Leopardus pardalis),
also known as painted leopard, tigrillo, manigordo, or McNenney's wildcat, is a wild cat distributed over South and Central America and Mexico, but has been reported as far north as Texas and in Trinidad, in the Caribbean. It can be up to 100 cm (3'2") in length, plus 45 cm (1'6") tail length, and weighs 10-15 kg (about 20-33 pounds).

While similar in appearance to the oncilla and the margay, who inhabit the same region, the ocelot is larger. It should be noted that ocelots are often called "tigrillo" in Mexico. This word, which means little tiger, is also used to describe margays, and should not be used when trying to speak of one determinated species.

The ocelot is mostly nocturnal and very territorial. They will fight fiercely, sometimes to the death, in territorial disputes. Like most felines, they are solitary, usually meeting only to mate. However, during the day they rest in trees or other dense foliage, and will occasionally share their spot with another ocelot of the same gender.
Generally the female will have 2-4 kittens, born in the autumn with their eyes closed and a thin covering of hair.

(Ocelot doesnīt live in the wild nature in my country.Photo of this one I have taken in ZOO and it was behind quite thich glass (maybe thatīs why some parts of photo arenīt as sharp).
In my country live in a wild state a specie related with Ocelot- -Bob cat (or Northern Lynx)

Hello Viera,
Excellent close-up of this beautiful cat, Adrian. Very good focus and the exposure is spot on. Beautiful sharp details and awonderful expression.

Hi Viera,
Quite an impressive close-up shot of this beautiful cat.
Maybe the focus has gone a little soft on the lower portion of the mouth, but the eyes in particular are very well delineated.
Do you find this animal in a wild state in your country too? Just curious.

That is a beautiful cat, and you showed it well.
Great POV showing the gorgeous markings and colors.
Excellent sharpness and light.
Too bad you could not get rid of the man-made BG.

Hi Viera

The ocelot is such a beautiful animal and rather scarce even on TN as this is one of only 8 other photos of this magnificent animal. Another well captured in-your-face close-up from your lens.

You made good use of the large format for this composition pushing it almost to the maximum size allowed at 784x799 pixels. This ensured a near life size image on the monitor. The facial details are well defined and very sharp with lovely rich colours. It would have been great if you could have left a little more space on the right for the animal to look into, but it seems like there were some zoo paraphernalia present there that would have spoiled the photo. Exposure or lighting was well controlled.

Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Beautiful closeup. Sharply focussed and nice position of the face.
