Ok, I tried to do some research on this one. I hope that I have not mistaken this kind for another. If I am wrong, please tell me and I will change my title. I am new to researching names for these things so I may need some help sometimes.
Here again it was difficult to get the exposure correct, as the subject is almost white and the old stump being almost black. I had to take a number of shots before I finally found a good exposure. I used available light and a close up filter. I have done no kind of PP work on this at all.

This is a superb shot Colin. Good point of view and exposure. Can't comment on the ID but you've done really well here.Excellent!

Composition is nice. I would try to brighten it a bit. Maybe with the shadow/highlight tool if you have PS CS.

A nice shot.
Excellent composition and very good sharp detail of the fungi.
Good work,well done.

I am very glad to see another fungi lover around. I enjoy very much moody fungi photos, and this one realy fits.
Welcome Colin. I have been off some days, now I saw this one also looked to the coprinus you posted previously. Nice work.

Bonita composicion Colin con este grupo de hongos muy bien retratados.
Buen DOF con adecuado foco.
Tal vez la iluminación es algo débil... posiblemente el uso del flash hubiera optimizado la captura.

Very nice work, the lighting is excellent, nice and moody and I love the textures and composition. Well done.

I just watched the DVD of "The Lord Of The Rings" and this image would fit in nicely. The white color is very attractive in combination with the tree in the background. Because of some of the suggestions made I tried a WS. The leaves in the background give the composition some extra color, I think if left out the composition would become a bit monotone. Good job!

I think it was a good choice to not use a flash. The image is one of soft subtlety that a flash (at least on the A70) would have overpowered IMO. It has a nice feel this image. The whites are a bit underexposed but this works as you have kept the details in the blacks and that makes for a more interesting image I think. As it is, the back fungus falls out of the field of focus. Composition is well thought out. Angles play nicely with the corners with a good line leading the viewer into the overall environment which is not distracting but adds to the image as a whole.

I wonder if getting slightly lower would have allowed you to close down a bit (f/8) and still keep the forest floor out of the DOF. It may have been hard to keep steady at 1/60 or so but I think having the entire subject (fungi) in focus would have added more impact and made for a slightly more interesting image.

All in all a good shot and it carries a pleasing and peaceful scene that I enjoyed viewing, good job.
