In this days when all nature around is dark brown, red and yelou I miss some different coloure.
One of TN member / licaon/ corect me and this is datas he wrot about this lovely plant:
The plant is called Viper's Bugloss (or Blueweed) (Echium vulgare) and is a member of the Boraginaceae. (Thistles are Asteraceae)
It is a biennial plant often found on grassy and disturbed situations. It prefers a well drained chalky soil and is often seen on bare places, on chalk and limestone downs. It is often found by the coast on cliffs, sand dunes and shingle. |

Nice portrait, but sorry to disappoint you but this is nor a thistle nor a ''typical '' meadowplant.
