Of average size and long tail. The hair, of olive color, disappears in some zones of the crown, presenting this one a few average bald characteristics, of which they depart other hair that spread up to the eyebrows, ears and neck.

They get his name for the interest of feeding on crabs. They choose a tree nailed in the best fishing area of the swamp, the richest in crabs, trifles, mollusks, etc., and they hope that it lowers the tide and leaves them to the overdraft to feed. For this reason they will defend with energy his zone of fishing. Besides this also they consume many vegetables and fruits

Reproduction

The females after a gestation of approximately six months, give birth normally a baby who weighs approximately 350 gr.. It is nursed from six months to one year on the part of the mother, of whom it receives a continuous education. At the age of three and I happen the females reach the sexual maturity, thing that happens in the males one year later. The maximum longevity reached in captivity is 38 years, this number that meets reduced enough at liberty.

Customs and social life

They are good swimmers and divers, for what they might leave his retirement arborícola when they wanted to look for another asentadero. The troop of macaques is composed by a changeable number of individuals, normally not more than 20, than all the sexes and ages. This group difficultly admits the interference of a stranger, being frequent the fights between tribes. The mutual desparasitación plays an indispensable role to support the harmony and cohesion inside the group. Though the normal thing is that the female desparasite to the macho, also can give opposite cases or of females between yes. In spite of the importance of the desparasitación for the social life of the group, probably the most transcendent thing inside the hierarchic order is the presentation or offer, by means of this, an individual of low scale appeases the ire of the domineering one showing a attitude of submission, which is the same that the female adopts in zeal. The domineering one can simulate even the cópula. A custom observed in captivity is it of washing the food before consuming them.

State of conservation

The situation in this one species does not re-dress danger, being frequent in his area of distribution. His principal enemies are the crocodiles, pythons, wild dogs, panthers and the eagles.
