The Lanius senator or woodchat shrike is a summer visitor to Europe (mostly Mediterranea area).
The habitat of this bird is typically open country with scattered trees and bushes.
It has a bold black, white and chestnut plumage. The size is about 19 cm.
A woodchat's prey is mainly insects, beetles, damsel flies, dragonflies, grasshoppers, wasps and bees.
But diet extends to a selection of birds including warblers and even swallows, wheatears and nightingales. On occasion woodchats have been known to plunder the nests of other birds.

A beautiful little bird, well captured and presented in this excellent composition. The cropping was well done and the colours are great. The OOF BG is exceptional and it enhances the bird beautifully.

I like this capture of this woochant it come out reallygood. The green of the background is beautiful and the colors and details are very good.
