Hi Ivan,
I'm laughing - isn't it amazing what turns up on internet searches? You were lucky this bee-fly allowed you a couple of shots! The clarity of the entire insect is wonderful. The head and wings are superb and the fuzzy texture of the honey colored body is shown off well. Great pov. I won't say the setting is beautiful :-)

Hello Ivan,
Very good capture of this bee-fly. Excellent sharpness and clarity. You could reproduce the texture of the wing very well. Excellent natural colours.
Cheers,
Mariki

Hi Ivan
Fantastic macro! Perfect sharpness! Tiny blinks on the wings are not overexposed - great. Also very good simple composition and nice background.
Best regards

Hi Ivan
You'd have thought that with the scientific name of Villa this would be a House-fly, not a Bee-fly! ;p
Excellent focus, sharp detail and exposure.
Kind Regards

Hello Ivan,
A very well taken shot.
I like how the light is reflecting on its body and wings.
You have composed the shot well with the insect placed perfectly in the frame.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

An interesting looking "villa" on Swedish soil Ivan, quite a sharp image of a small thing from a hand held tele with a converter! but you do such things all the time. The thorax and abdomen seem to be that of a bee but the wings undoubtedly belong to a fly, must be one of the more radical tries of mother nature! TFS this fine capture my friend.
Cheers,
Mehmet

Hello Ivan,
What a fine contrast between the insect and the well lightened sand! Despite the darck colors of the insect you have managed to show well, with sharp details it's body. You have captured a very fine light beeing reflected by the wings. In this way you have rendered excelently wing's structure.
Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

Bold selection of shutter speed, Ivan. I guess the sun must have been very bright in Spain at the time of your visit. The results are oustanding. I have never seen the transparent wings shot that vividly. Even the hair on the abdomen look countable :)!
The eyes give away this Bee Fly easily.
TFS this very attractive image and appending a useful note with it.

Hello Ivan,
I enjoyed reading your funny note..it is easier to find a Mediterranean Villa on internet than this special fly!
Picture with very good sharpness and well rendered transparency of the wings.
I know this species, thanks to your help in the past for one of the same kind.
Bonne après-midi

Clearly shown Ivan and well explained in notes as you do so well...the name I translated totally wrong because of my poor spelling in foreign tongues..for a minute I thought it meant "Simple house"..not sure if you will know what I mean...
There is a somewhat American SW quality about this, although I don't think the SW has any grass:-) I say that in jest to Jane who always complains of hot and sand....anyway I digress...again a fine and good lesson. One that is simple and easy enough for child to understand. We are now teaching our grandchildren all of these various things, much of which information has come from TN..and some as well from you1

Hi Ivan. Someone somewhere is trying to tell you invest in a spanish villa . This is a good close up with you 300 lens and the 1.4 converter. You were able to get a very good well detail and bright coloured shot before it took off. i do like the top POV so we can see the whole of the Bee. well done TFS.
Nick..
You and ulla have a nice weekend.

Hi Ivan
A very good macro here with an excellent attention to the details of this interesting bee-fly.
Very good positioning here and excellent shallow DOF work, ensuring a good isolation of your subject from the ground, even if it wasn't far from it at all.
Further more, a great attention to the exposure came with lovely colors and good details retained from both the dark and the highlighted parts, too.
Very good job!
Bravo and TFS

Hi Ivan,
I'm glad that you present us highly unusual flies like this one. The way it holds its wings is already quite peculiar, that it sits on the ground etc. You took it in full sunlight but were able to avoid the overpowering reflections and the harsh shadows. Well one, Ivan.
Best regards
Dietrich

Hehehe, as I see we had similar idea for presentation Ivan :)
Nice capture of this fly, in typical resting position for most Bombyliidae species. Good details and sharpness too.
I had possibility to observe another species from this genus, but this one is new for me :)
Greetings from rainy Lodz (it seems that autumn is already present here..),

merhaba Ivan
In first view, I thought about it that was one of species of the family Syrphidae. Now, I know it is a Bombyliidae species. Your capture it with a great macro-shot. POV, composition and sharp details great. Especially transparent wings look wonderful. Thanks for sharing, have a nice week my friend
