Hi Ivan,
I'm beginning to appreciate how difficult butterfly photography can be.
We don't see very many down here on the 'Wet' Coast but recently there have been 2 or 3 Monarchs frequenting the Coreopsis flowers in my garden.
They seem to be very nervous though,and fly off when you get within a metre of them.
Consequently,I don't yet have a clear shot of them.
I'm not sure what they're doing here now anyway .... its almost winter !

Everything is beautiful - wasn't that song? The Speckled Wood, the leaves, the background , colors, details, textures - everything. What makes it so special to my eyes are how the colors of the leaves and butterfly blend so perfectly with the background. Did I say this was beautiful?

I like the offset for sure but am miffed by how you did some trickery in the depth of field...It is somethign I have seen only with special lenses...luck? Or did you know what you were doing...for whatever it certainly worked out!

Hello Ivan,
This Speckled Wood has almost a copper color and it literally shines in the sun. Typical pose of the butterfly on the fresh leaf. Well composed picture, like always.
Just a question: is Epistrophe diaphana a different species from Syrphus ribesii? I will rectify the note afterwards, but I'm not a 100% sure.
