This capture is really interesting! I have never seen this species of Meloidae! And my best congratulation because of trip! Believe or not but in 66,6% we vesited the some countries last time :>
You wrote that it is the longest beetle species in Europe, but I think that some Lucanus cervus specimens can be even 8cm long :)
Anyway, this specimen from your photo is really slender and long! :)

Nature is amazing! I've never seen this living eggs' factory, I saw only its shorter relative. Very well taken shot with good details and nice black/red colours of insect. I hope we'll see more pictures from your trip soon!

Hi Dietrich,

A very interesting insect, and a good, sharp, well-exposed image of it. It's hardly recognizable as a beetle. Are those rudimentary wing covers just behind the thorax?
