[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
High above the fishing village of Calella, on the Costa Brave, lies the botanical garden of Caixa de Girona. It
is home to over a 1000 plant species from around the world. Begun by a Russian military exile (Colonel Woevodsky)and his aristocratic English wife (Dorothy Webster)in 1927, it became the property of the Caixa de Girona in 1969. Its 16 different gardens are kept in immaculate condition, and the vast majority of the plants and trees are well-indicated by latin name and
trilingual label. It takes about 2 hours at a leisurely place to see it all. The view of the sea and craggy cliffs is breathtaking!
I forgot to take along a pen or pencil to note the names of interesting flora, and I don't remember the name of this phallic cactus. I seem to recall that it's indigenous to Bolivia. Perhaps there is a "cactologist" out there who can supply its name.
It has to be the sexiest cactus in the world!

Hi Michael.
I have read your note with great interest. Thank you very much. You have presented these plants excellently despite the complex lighting. Lights and shadows, colours and details of whole pictured scene are reproduced very well. I also like impressive vertical cropping, POV and nice DOF. My best regards and TFS.
