[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Most people never see this flower. I hadn't until only recently. This is a pomergranate flower in the process of opening. The origin is India and Iran. It's Latin name is Punica (puniceus = red-purple) granata (granatus = full of seeds). The ornamental varieties don't produce fruit.
The fruit is used, among other things, to make grenadine.
In Persian tradition, it was the "tree of life" in the Garden of Paradise. The Greeks considered it a symbol of fertility and fecundity. The Arabs introduced it to Europe (Spain) in the 8th C.

Hi Michael.
I indeed have never seen this amazing flower. Thank you very much that I have such opportunity now.

What a colourful shot you have taken and shared. It is full of impressive lights and darks. I also like large DOF and very attractive well detailed BG. Sharpness and details of the main subject are perfect too. My best regards and TFS.
Alexei.
