Es un chinche bastante común en toda la zona mediterránea occidental de Europa y África, sobre gran variedad de plantas, entre las que destacan los cardos (familia Asteraceae) y diversas umbelíferas (familia Umbelliferae), como el hinojo (Foeniculum vulgare).

Miden más de un centímetro de longitud. Presentan una coloración amarilla anaranjada o rojiza, con cuatro bandas oscuras divergentes que parten de la cabeza y continúan por el pronoto. Los extremos de éste están muy apuntados y manchados de negro. Las alas son más estrechas que el abdomen, por lo que se ve su borde, que aparece con bandas de color negro. Las antenas son negras y las patas rojizas.

Se alimentan succionando los jugos de las plantas, gracias a su largo aparato bucal, que mantienen pegado a la parte inferior del cuerpo cuando no lo están usando.

Hi Nicolas. This is an excellent macro shot of the colourful bug. you have captured the detail in the shell and colours very well. it stands out well against the plain background. a nice POV/DOF. very well done TFS.
