Quercus humilis Mill. (= Quercus pubescens Willd., = Quercus lusitanica Lam.)

The Downy Oak or Pubescent Oak is an oak in the white oak section of the genus, Quercus sect. Quercus. It is native to southern Europe and southwest Asia, from northern Spain (Pyrenees) east to the Crimea and the Caucasus. It is also found in France and parts of central Europe.
It is a medium-sized deciduous tree growing up to 20 m. Forest-grown trees grow tall, while open-growing trees develop a very broad and irregular crown. They are long-lived, to several hundred years, and eventually grow into very stout trees with trunks up to 2 m in diameter. Open-grown trees frequently develop several trunks. The bark very rough, light grey and divided into small flakes. Large trees develop very thick whitish bark cracked into deep furrows, similar to the Penduculate oak but lighter in colour.

Sweet shot of the pair of acorns. These trees surround me from childhood and I love them a lot. You have create a lovely composition. All is perfect at your shot. A very nice clear capture of the acorns of Q. humilis taken from an excellent POV to show them with nice lighting and excellent sharpness. The composition together with the oak leaves against a neutral BG is great.

I can see even a spider thread leading to the right hand acorn.

Autum feeling emphasised by subtle, autumn-coloured background.

The natural colours show, that the right hand acorn is getting more sun - i.e. riper, slightly darker.
