[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This montpellier snake (Malpolon monspessulanus) was alerted when my coughing car passed by. I learnt never to step on the brakes when you see something closeby you want to take pictures of: animals nearly always hide or run away. But my first reaction when I saw this snake was, step on the brakes. This snake didn't hide but just stayed alerted for minutes so I was able to shoot some pictures. Only under difficult light conditions.
Unfortunatly these snakes are often found as road kills. For humans they're not really dangerous because the sharp poisonous teeth are placed far in the back of the mouth and therefor he's not able to get a good grip on humans. For smaller rodents his poison is strong.

Gran nitidez y claridad, a pesar de la intensa iluminación.
Buen desenfoco del fondo realzando la silueta del ofidio.

Wow great shot. Nice POV - I'm not sure I would want to be on eye level with a snake even if they are "not really dangerous"

Nice shot of this snake, makes me remember when a was looking for a frogs and see one water-snake like in this pose, unhappily my batteries of flash take to much time to recharge and I lost the shot... sometimes it's happening! Well, great work in there! Congratulations!

This is a very beautiful picture of this superb snake!
I really like the pose of the animal from this POV. Also nice exposure management in these consition. Beautiful colors, great DOF and very nice sharp details as well.
I wish we had this beauty in Romania, too :(
