The penny royal (Mentha pulegium), also call penny royal-mint, is one of the species more known the Mentha sort. Of the family of the labiadas ones, it is a perennial cespitosa and by rizomatosas roots that grow or in humid sites or next to fluvial courses, where is wild between gramíneas and other plants.
This aromatic plant has been well-known for centuries in all Mediterranean and western Asia, where it grows spontaneously, by its carminativas, relajantes properties and even like emenagoga, taken in infusion. The term pulegium that derives from Latin pulex, “flea”, is due to the old custom to burn penny royal in the houses to repel these insects. Also they serve to relax the body.

interesting subject good composition with the insect. background is noisey image is way too dark in my opinion--varies a lot with different montors of course. DOF is a little shallow--top part of flower is a little out of focus

It is an interesting flower and very similar to one that grows wild in Texas, USA. Ours is called Monarda citriodora or Lemon Mint. Would be useful to see the entire plant. Exposure is a little dark. Nice note!
