Scilla (squill) is a genus of bulb-forming perennial herbs in the Hyacinthaceae. The 90-odd species are found in woodlands, subalpine meadows, and seashores across the Old World. Their flowers are usually blue, but white, pink, and purple types are known; most flower in early spring, but a few are autumn-flowering.

La scille d'automne (Scilla autumnalis L.) est une plante appartenant au genre Scilla et à la famille des Hyacinthacées, née de l'éclatement de la famille des Liliacées (la famille des Hyacinthacées n'est plus aujourd'hui considérée comme pertinente, et les scilles font à présent partie des Asparagacées). Contrairement aux autres espèces du genre Scilla, printanières, c'est une plante qui fleurit d'août à octobre. Elle apprécie les pelouses sèches ou les rochers, soit en terrain montagneux ou semi-montagneux, soit sur les côtes (Méditerranée et Atlantique).
Plante vivace de petite taille, glabre, à feuilles basales, linéaires et très étroites, poussant parfois après les fleurs. Ces dernières forment des grappes, ou racèmes, assez denses. Le périanthe est constitué de six tépales (trois sépales et trois pétales identiques) de couleur généralement lilas ou violet assez pâle, plus rarement blancs. Six étamines à anthères violettes ou noirâtres. Le fruit est une capsule.

Los últimos jacintos endebles que aún quedan en flor esta temporada. Voy a destacar su fragilidad sobre todo al verlos salir en terrenos arcillosos resecos entre rocas, como era el caso de esta planta.
Se trata de una foto prueba del flash en pleno Sol al mediodía con diferentes fondos y balances de blanco. En este caso el fondo es “semi” artificial, una cartulina arrugada tras algunas “hierbas” que quedan difuminadas.

Excellent picture of the Scilla, which we have in Israel, too, after the first rains (not yet...).

However, I prefer to take such pix with a natural background and natural light...

A lovely presentation of this purple flower. The unopened blossoms are an eye-catcher, and because I love purple, this flower on the thumbnail attracted me even more. I like the different shades of purple which includes lilac, violet and then brown and almost maroon. I have added this special flower to my theme called “My purple obsession”. Thanks for sharing.
