El pelícano es una de las aves de la familia Pelecanidae, unas de las familias de los pájaros del mar incluidas dentro del género Pelecanus.

Los pelícanos son famosos por sus enormes picos, pero poseen otro rasgo distintivo; a diferencia de otras aves acuáticas, estos tienen los cuatro dedos palmeados, al igual que los cormoranes, alcatraces y fragatas. Se alimentan de peces y la mayoría vive en el mar.

La fotografía esta tomada en el Zoológico de Madrid.

Hi Carlos, what a good portrait of a pelican. The twist of the neck is beautiful giving the photo movement and grace. I also like the light falling right on the bird. Thank you!

What an interesting pose of this pelican.
I am a big fan of pelicans myself as I find them very amusing.
I really like the many colors seen in the white plumage of this pelican. The details are very sharp and I think the light on is is just perfect, illuminating without being harsh.
