Great capture of the Jersey Tiger Moth, Maite!

This fresh specimen is sharply portrayed in an excellent composition on the wild rose leaves. Sometimes these moths land so that the wings happen to rest on some object that causes the wings to splay out. In this way we can see the striking orange-red underwings.
Otherwise a way of doing this is to catch the moth and take it home to the fridge and let it 'cool down' and then put it on a suitable place to gently draw the wings open and take shot before it warms up and flies away.

Some of these moths appear as though they have their own dress designers. A very colorful moth indeed and a good eye in seeing it as it flit past. I, not being as limber as once, have quite a hard time chasing these things down. And to know where one has lit, then get there and still have the sense to make sure all settings are correct before taking an image makes for quited a feat. Very nicely and aptly done!

Even without red dress your model is looked perfectly. By the way, as a man I should not ask – where is your (moth's) red dress.

Excellent close-up with nice composition and framing. I like wonderful twig with leaves, nice well coloured and illuminated BG. Sharpness and details of the image are so impressive. Note is sweet. Bravo and best wishes.

te quedó preciosa, como todas tus tomas. Esta mariposa, no se porqué, me atrae especialmente. Lástima que no se vea nada del rojo anaranjado.
Buen encuadre y colores. El enfoque algo justillo, pero como dices, fué vista y no vista y había que aprovechar.

one of my favorite day active moths, too! So very quick and alert, and tricky. Difficult to find the right exposure on those hard contrasts of black and white markings. You managed to show the slight iridescence of the black parts really well. Thank you!

Wonderful macro shot. This is a butterfly which is active mostly at night, and yes, its lower wings are red. In Hungary this type (I mean the whole family) is called "bear-butterfly".
