The procesionaria of the pine Thaumetopoea pityocampa (Denis and Schiffermüller) is a common plague in our forests of pines. Also they are hospedantes of our cedars. The characteristic damage that produces is the defoliation that generally does not kill the tree but if can weaken it in great measure facilitating thus the attack on the part of other enemies. Besides the immature states of the procesionaria (caterpillars), possess hairs urticantes that scatter when they are bothered producing irritation in skin and mucous.

hi josep. Very nice composition, I like the inclusion of the shadow. Very sharp shot. Lovely color contrast with the wall. Regards, Yvonne

Hola Josep! Wonderful picture. Amazing sharp, light and colors. Very good contrast. Original capture. Regards!

A nice take in rich detail Josep, we have the same plague in our pine forests and now I believe we are fighting them biologically, but I do not know the exact biological agent. Once I had a few of these larvae in my back while I was in the field, I do know how irritating those hairs might be!

Hola Josep,
Buen trabajo!
TFS, saludos y que tengas buen dia!
Brenda
