[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is called Paisaje Lunar which means lunar landscape. It is a rather large area of tall, thin white rock-columns that in spite of continuing erosion remain gigantic and impressive in their whiteness and barrenness. They can only be reached via a two-hour hike from a parking-lot that can in principle only be reached in a four-wheel drive. The landscape is at 1800 meters above sea-level and the mountains around these naked rock columns are full of Canarian pines and dense bush vegetation. It is only as one drives even higher above 2000 meters that the landscape becomes dominated by the lava-fields of the volcano Teide.
This is a paradise for hikers, especially when winter has Northern Europe in its grip and eternal spring reigns in the Canary Islands.

Thanks for bringing us a unique image. I would say that the partial tree is a little distracting, but rather than crop it out, if it were included completely, it might give a good sense of scale to this most unusual landscape
