The southern part of Lanzarote is pretty bleak and dominated by volcanoes and black, red, brown or grey lava. It’s surprising to find Lanzarote’s wine district in such an environment! See WORKSHOP!

As you travel further north across the mountains the landscape gets more fertile and green and there are wild flowers growing along the roadsides. The blue flower here is Echium pitardii - lancerottense.

This was captured from a distance of 1 metre. It has been cropped and sharpened. The shadow on the ground is from a Canary Palm.

This beautiful group of colorful flowers demonstrate perfectly that living nature reaches even the bleakest geography, given time Ulla, a fine image sharply captured with good exposure my friend.

A fine colored picture of these flowers. In days like these with sad weather it brings a little sunshine to look at it.

Hello Ulla,
Very fine and charming picture from Lanzarote. The light just brings out the beauty of these Echiums, the display reminds of a singing flowerchoir.

Hi Ulla,

How beautiful these flowers are. The colors are exquisite and compliment one another so well. A winning combination. Such a contrast to the fascinating shot of the wine district which is so different from any vineyards I have seen.

I like the dancing colours in this picture, Ulla. The colours are bright, we can tell the sun was shining there ;-) I am amazed at the vine plantation of the workshop, how impressive this is. I like the pov and the joyful colours against the dark background. Thank you for this much interesting post,

Francine

Any picture taken in a wine district is a photo-friend of mine...but I can see you were not imbibing here...Your image is too clear and too well thought out...and see? you didn't even know it!

I really like it when you post flower pictures, Ulla...

W have five species of Echium here, including the endemic Echium Judaeum, but not this one. It is nice to get aquainted with another species, which is well captured in your posting.

Cheers!

Ishi

Excellent colours. I like the different colours of blue and ggreen in the composition and how they are contrasted.
Best wishes,

Hello Ulla,
a very beautiful cluster of flowers. the dual colours is very unique and interesting. The flowers are vibrant in its natural surroundings.
A very sharp and clear shot with lovley muted background.

Regards,
Foozi

Hi Ulla,
Very elegant composition, it's so colorful and so surprising in such an environment. Great sharpness of the focused flowers, beautiful contrast of the colorful greenery and the blurry shadow / pale brown desert background. The purple flower strongly reminds me to our Pulmonaria officinalis, except for this specie on the pic is much taller, and the white to Arabis alpina. But they're blooming in spring - so, thanx for showing this nice pseudo-spring image.
Best regards, László

Great combination of colors Ulla, nice light.
Thanx for sharing these beautiful wildflowers :)
