The mantis is an insect. Compared with other insects, size is medium, has a long chest and thin antennae. Have a large compound eyes on the head which can rotate up to 180 degrees and three simple eyes between the compound eyes. Its front legs, which keeps collected before the head in prayer, are provided with strong spines to hold the prey it feeds on. It is voracious and very common in warm places.
Almost always live alone but in the breeding season, male and female pair. There is usually more of a male and fight to see who gets the male, female or otherwise. Females are larger than males, which can cause problems when they mate.
The Praying Mantis, the most representative species of the family Mantidae in Europe can be green or brown with different shades. The color of the medium in which he lives during his last move (if it is for example straw or dry grass) determines the color of the adult.
It is the only known animal that has a single ear [1] and is located in the chest. |
