Sphaerophoria scripta Male, a hover fly.

Identification: Paul [PDP], thanks again.

The female of Sphaerophoria scripta has the body of the typical hover fly: long, broadened somewhere near the middle and ending conically. The markings, yello stripes on a black backgroud, are typical of hover flies. It is very difficult to tell apart females of the various species in this genus, for they all do look like oneanother very much. Even microscopic research doesn't always provide you woth the correct answer.

The male looks very different: it has a long, slim, stick like body, ending suddenly without tipped end. The males of this species have a body that protrudes from under the wings, for it is longer and are very variable in markings.

Hi Christina and Felipe,
this is a very pretty hoverfly. Sharpness is so perfect, I can see the facettes of the eyes.
I also like this shining in the wings.
The dragonflies here don't have a yellow part between the eyes, most are black. This is wonderful with yellow and orange. A pretty model, thanks, I enjoyed it very much, bye

I like this front view, Felipe. It gives another dimension to the hoverfly. The whole head with the tongue is very interresting to see. Very well framed. I like also how you've got the BG softly around the subject. Well done my friend!

What I really love about this photo Felipe, is not only the fantastic macro of this guy's eyes and tongue, but the two layer effect of seeing above and below the petals of the flower!

Impresionante trabajo, de gran nitidez y limpieza en el plano principal.
La posicion del hover fly con respecto al fondo luminoso no podia ser mejor, los colores y brillos difuminados del cuerpo, excelentes.
Me gusta todo, la calidez de la luz, los colores fuertes pero realistas... un abrazo.

EXCELLENT! Love the segmented eyes. The DOF is nearly perfect with only the tip of the tongue starting to drop out of the DOF. Great shot, Felipe.
