Marbled skipper - Carcharodus lavatherae

Family: Hesperiidae.

Flight Time: May - July.

Size: 28-34mm

Altitude: 200-1600m

After a long research, I decided that the most likely is this specie.

There are some similarities to the Mallow skipper Carcharodus alceae. The Marbled skipper tends to be a lighter colour and have many more white markings on the upperside.

In addition there are five other species of the genus Carcharodus in Europe, some of which are very similar and also very variable. Distribution helps in this case, and is often the best guide for the amateur.

I found this info HERE, where we can find links to compare with similar species.

Hope you like!

Hi Felipe & Cristina!

Very pleasant photo of this small beauty. I've never seen skipper with colours like that. Shades of brown look really good in full light. DOF, POV, details and composition are very good. Very good work my friends!

I would expect nothing less from you Felipe, tack sharp revealing amazing details. Colour saturation is very good and blurred BG not to distracting, quite interesting actually. Very nice work. Regards Steve.

Incredible composition Felipe and Cristina.
Great colors and the details are superb.
Excellent POV and BG and I also love the frame.
Saludos.
