Convolvulus arvensis L.
Common name: Field Bindweed, Morning Glory Flower, Lesser Bindweed
Name Derivation:
Convolvulus = from the Latin convolvere, meaning to twine around (Latin);
arvensis = farmed, harvested or cultivated land(Latin).

This perennial is a common plant of waste ground, where it either twines around other plants, or sprawls and lies over bare earth. Its loose and unfirm stems are more or less hairless, twining round and give rise to stalked leaves. The leaves are generally arrow shaped up to 40mm long and alternatively arranged along one side of the stem.

The flowers have five free, overlapping sepals, five fused petals, five separate stamens and one central pistil. The corolla is trumpet-shaped which vary a lot in colour - in one extreme they maybe almost white, whilst in thecother extreme they can be almost magenta. Generally the colour is pink or pale purple and usually show star-like white stripes or rays. The pistil is of two carpels to produce a superior, compound ovary with the same number of locules as carpels. Pollination is frequently by bees.

Its fruit is rather spherical dehsicent capsule which holds a maximum of 4 dark brown seeds, but usually only 2 or 3 are found. No obvious method of dispersion, but they are either carried by animals or more probably just drop down throughout the region. The seeds are 5 to 6mm large, and oval (lemon) shaped with one or two depressions.

Hi Jose,
I like the tight crop of this photo and the quality it has. But, I feel it could use some enhancements to bring out more details and beauty. Please see my WS for what I mean.
TFS,
Niek

Hola Jose:
Juan Luis

Hello Jose,
wonderful shot, which an excellent POV and great crop. I like the details and the sharpness is also very nice. Little bit low on light, but this is easy to correct with a bit of PP work.

Hi Jose !
It is a wonderful picture, with excellent details, composition, POV and BG. They look very delicate, even if I know they are not - in France they grow everywhere in the garden, almost imposible to get rid of them ! :-) Colors are a bit dark on your photo, I like what Niek has done in his workshop.
Valérie.

Hello Jose, you've captured a good arrangement of the blooms, they look focussed too. The flowers are very underexposed. What has happened is you have metered off the white flowers. The meter gives you an exposure for a medium tone. You can either meter off something that is a medium tone and use that setting for the flowers or you can meter off the flowers and bias the exposure to around +1.3.

Well done

*I've turned off my points, I cannot recieve and I cannot give. I'm sorry for the latter*

Hello José,
lovely soft and tender colours. Very good details, and an arrangement of great harmony.
There is a mystical depth in this picture taken in the shadow that looks very beautiful! In my opinion, the dim light has been very well decided and it works very fine here to show the subtle shades of colours. It just needs a little time to accomodate. Many of us are used to "always look at the bright side of life" which is a good idea when literally taken in everday life, but not always a good idea when looking at some very fragile wonders of nature.
Thank you my friend. Have a very good day.
Peter
