ENGLISH NOTE IN THE LOWER PART

When we were resting from the photographic session, we received the visit of this Platycnemis which landed on the straw of the juice we where drinking :)
The Damselfly (Suborder Zygoptera) is an insect in the Order Odonata. Damselflies are similar to dragonflies, but the adults can be differentiated by the fact that the wings of most damselflies are held along the body when at rest. Furthermore, the hindwing of the damselfly is essentially similar to the forewing, while the hindwing of the dragonfly broadens near the base, caudal to the connecting point at the body. Damselflies are also usually smaller, and weaker fliers than dragonflies, and their eyes are separated.
Damselflies undergo incomplete metamorphosis, with an aquatic nympal stage. The female lays eggs in water, sometimes in underwater vegetation, or high in trees in bromeliads and other water-filled cavities. Nymphs are carnivorous, feeding on daphnia, mosquito larvae, and various other small aquatic organisms. The gills of damselfly nymphs are large and external, resembling three fins at the end of the abdomen. After molting several times, the winged adult emerges and eats flies, mosquitoes, and other small insects. Some of the larger tropical species are known to feed on spiders, hovering near the web and simply plucking the spider from its perch there.

I found this info HERE.

Hope you like!

Hi friends,
this is a very good close-up. The &0mm macro lens is a very sharp lens but you have to stick the front-lens right up the
face of a dragonfly to get this close and you have to find a very co-operative model, as I think you did here.
Great sharpness and details and the colours are lovely. I like the POV and compo too.
Very well done.

Hi Felipe.
What a fantastic macro shot and portrait of this at first range beautiful damselfly. Extremely well details and rich natural colours, amazing POV and very nice captured scene at whole. The composition is perfect too as well as the attractive combination of dark (top) and light (bottom) parts of the shot.
Great work. Bravo.

Hi Filipe
I was thinking about when i was going to see another fantastic damselfly picture from you the last week...and here it is! I've missed these :)
The magnification here is impressive and the details are fantasticly clear and sharp!
Also the lighting is great (did you use the integrated flash?) and the shallow DOF works magic!
What a great shot!

Very dramatic closeup portrait Felipe..
Sharp & detailed in the "extreme".
I think the colors of the straw make for a unique twist..Does this damsel drink from it as well? ;)
Have a good week mf.

Ricardo

Hi FeCr!

Yes, GLOBALISATION ;-) We've got same straws at our McDonalds or KFCs :-) But seriously - excellent macro. Razor sharp, with perfect details. And of course your favourite POV :-) Beautifull insect.

Hola Felipe,
This is amazing!
Seems the straw was not only comfortable for the insect but also for you to take the picture - the result is just great.
What really amazes me is the eye and it's details. I wish both eyes were sharp, then it would be even better.
Great work as always
TFS - Shir
